Vintage Scooter in Manila

I saw this vintage looking style scoot in my hometown in bangkal, Makati. It looks cool, with a mint green color. It has that big compartment at the back which  complements it’s old school style.  It has this 60’s or 70’s kind of look.

I don’t really know how to drive a motorcycle,  maybe because my dad never owned one.  If he did, I might be driving one too.

But thank God he didn’t, because and of the many fatalities and injuries one has suffered while driving it. You see learning to drive a motorcycle is one thing, but learning to drive a motorcycle in manila is another.

Why? Unless you own a 500cc and up Yamaha or Ducati, I suggest you stick to riding a car or any vehicle that has closed doors where you could get protection.  You see in Manila, there are two kings. King of the road.

-  First you You have F1 bus drivers (they always love to race, I don’t know, maybe they have this adrenaline rush every time they are behind the steering wheel of their bus) to contend with.  They are the king of EDSA (one of the main highways in Manila). They are so quick that the moment you land your feet on the bus, without warning and without you taking a seat, they burst into action speed off like the road runner.

- Second are the Kings of taft avenue. A safer version of the bus drivers because the size is indeed smaller, but don’t let their size fool you. Because they come in numbers, like piranhas. They swim out of the streets looking for their prey. Who are the preys? That is you and me waiting at the corner for them. (hehe)

So, if you own a scooter like this one, just make sure you bring your helmet or better yet, don’t drive outside your village if you don’t want a beaut (beauty)like this break into small pieces and become another kind of vintage. Vintage junk!
